Pride Month: screening of Rafiki

On the occasion of the 3rd edition of the Month of Pride in Villeneuve d'Ascq, the cinema Le Méliès offers you the screening of the film Rafiki on Wednesday, June 4 (opening times to come).
Pride Month is celebrated every year in June to celebrate the struggles for LGBTQIA+ rights around the world. The city is associated with this international event with a committed cultural programming.
Directed by Wanuri Kahiu, Rafiki immerses us in the daily life of Kena and Ziki, two young high school girls living in Nairobi, Kenya. From different backgrounds, they see their paths cross during an election campaign opposing their fathers. In a conservative society, their mutual attraction confronts them with a dilemma: follow their heart or choose safety.
